About the Painted Intersection Project
The City of Fort Lauderdale launched the Painted Intersection Project to help calm traffic and assist pedestrians and bicyclists with safely navigating to and from their destinations through a colorful art display. The project also addresses one of the main priorities outlined in Fort Lauderdale's community-wide Vision and Strategic Plan, which is to transform Fort Lauderdale into a fully connected, pedestrian friendly, multimodal City through a Complete Streets approach that offers safe access for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit riders of all ages and abilities.

Fort Lauderdale's first two painted intersections were installed on May 31, 2014 at E. Las Olas Boulevard and S.E. 1st Avenue and July 12, 2014 at E. Las Olas Boulevard and S.E. 2nd Avenue.
